NJC Courses & Workshops

The National Judicial College invites the nation's traffic court judges, magistrates and hearing officers who currently handle commercial motor vehicle-related cases to attend cutting-edge traffic safety courses at The National Judicial College.

The National Judicial College, in addition to presenting CDL/CMV courses and workshops, has a variety of traffic related courses that are applicable to judges dealing with any traffic related case.

Register for this course

Receive up-to-date information on commercial driver’s license laws including DUI differences and conviction reporting. The course is fully funded for eligible participants. In exchange, participants must make at least one follow-up presentation in their jurisdictions.

Participants will be exposed to a wide range of cutting edge issues that affect traffic courts such as legal and technology concerns in a traffic stop; the uniqueness of commercial vehicle and motorcycle cases; and crafting effective sentences for “special” defendants, i.e., the immigrant and the older or younger driver. One day will be devoted to impaired driving issues – pharmacology, assessment, and sentencing.

Qualifies as an elective for the Certificate in Judicial Development, Administrative Law Adjudication Skills, General Jurisdiction Trial Skills, Special Court Trial Skillsand Tribal Judicial Skills programs.
